George Cyril Colmore

George Cyril Colmore (1885–1937) was an English aviator and the first Royal Navy officer to gain a Royal Aero Club Aviators Licence. Colmore was born in Hathern Leicestershire on 14 September 1885.
==Royal Navy==
In the 1901 Census Colmore is listed as a 15-year-old Cadet at the Thames Nautical Training College (also known as HMS Worcester) in Dartford, Kent.〔 In 1910 at his own expense he joined the Royal Aero Club and learned to fly at Eastchurch flying ground.〔 On 21 June 1910 he flew a Short biplane to gain aviators certificate No. 15.〔 Following his success the RAeC approached the Admiralty and offered to train more Naval aviators.
By 1917 Colmore was in command of the air station at Wormwood Scrubs.〔
